Franklyn E. “Frank” Wise, 92

Franklyn E. “Frank” Wise, 92, of Willow Street, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at his home. Born in Cameron, NY he was the son of the late George Carl Wise and the late Stella (Rarrick) Wise. He was the loving husband of Mary (Struk) with whom he shared over 64 wonderful years of marriage.
He was an operating engineer for various companies throughout his career and worked on the Liberty Dam in Baltimore, MD, Mt. Morris Dam in New York, the Robert Moses Power Project in Niagara Falls and the Holt Lock and Dam in Tuscaloosa, AL. Frank also worked here in Lancaster at the Muddy Run, Peach Bottom and Three Mile Island power plants.
Frank was a handyman who was able to make anything from scratch and enjoyed doing it.
Frank was a longtime active member of the Boehm’s United Methodist Church.
He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USAT Excelsior during the Normandy Invasion and on other Liberty ships as a member of the Armed Guard.
In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his daughter, Carol L. wife of Thomas E. Noll of Ephrata; one grandchild, Jessica wife of Chad Brubaker of Reamstown and two great-grandchildren, Collin and Ivy. Also surviving is a sister, Clara wife of Donald Leonard of Kanona, NY, three brothers, David Wise of Berkley Springs, WV, Ted Wise of FL, Jack Wise husband of Mary of Lakeland, FL and a son in law, Nicholas Patton of Lititz. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Patton and his three brothers, Ralph, Eldon and Richard Wise.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Boehm’s United Methodist Church, 13 W. Boehms Rd, Willow Street, PA 17584. A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Frank’s memory to the church at the above address.
