Frank M. Gerow, 61

Frank M. Gerow, 61, Lancaster passed away on October 1, 2007, at his home.  Born in Wellsboro, PA, he is the son of Dorothy Gerow, Florida, and the late Frank D. Gerow.

Frank graduated from Wellsboro High School in 1964 and was offered a football scholarship to Susquehanna University.  He chose to serve his country, and enlisted in the Marine Corps to fight in the Vietnam War. He ended his service in the rank of Sergeant and earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Campaign Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation.  After a brief period as a Wellsboro Police Officer, he became a manager of several different Aerospace Companies. Eventually, retiring to Lancaster, PA to be near his children and grandchildren.

Frank’s love of cars was known by everyone he met.  He enjoyed rebuilding an collecting antique cars, attending car shows, and participating in the Hot Rod Power Tour.  He enjoyed watching his grandson play football and basketball and watching his granddaughter cheer and play piano.  Family and friends were very important and always close by.

He and his wife, Barbara would have celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this February.  In addition to his wife, he survived by two children, Christine L. Walter, wife of Curtis B. Walter, Lancaster and Linda E. Gerow, life companion of Sonja Stebbins, Lancaster.  He is also survived by two grandchildren, Zachary C. Walter and Monica L. Walter.  Two sisters, Nancy Cloos, wife of Hartley Cloos, Florida and Barbara McLaughlin, wife of John McLaughlin, NY.  

In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Humane League of Lancaster, 2195 Lincoln Hwy East, Lancaster, PA 17602  and the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Please join the family on Friday, October 5, 2007 for a 1 PM Memorial Service at Charles Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA  followed by a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Frank M. Gerow.
