Frank E. “Brownie” Brown, 83

February 19, 2013

Frank E. “Brownie” Brown, 83, of Lititz, PA passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

He was the husband of Theresa Breen Brown, with who he celebrated 61 years of marriage this past June 30th. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Frank H. and Jeannette Soltner Brown.

Frank had worked for RK Metals in Cinnaminson NJ , retiring in 1993 as the Plant Manager.

A US Navy veteran, he served as a Fireman 1st Class on several naval vessels from 1946 to 1950.

In earlier years, Frank enjoyed fishing and boating with his children on the Neshaminy Creek and the Delaware River in Bucks County where they lived for 45 years. In later years you could find him crabbing and fishing with his wife Theresa. They would spend many weekends on their boat along the Bay Shores of New Jersey. For their 50th wedding anniversary Frank and his wife did a memorable drive west across the U.S.

Frank was an avid Phillies fan all of his life and as a young boy managed to get a baseball signed by Babe Ruth that the Babe threw to his father sitting in the stands at the old Shibe Park. He said “The local gang played with that ball until the leather was totally beat off the core of the ball, baseballs were more valuable than signatures back then”.

He also always spoke fondly of his U.S. Navy days particularly his time spent up in Alaska which he told many stories of, and had always hoped to sometime return for a visit. Over the years his hobbies included Wood Working, Vegetable Gardening, and Tropical Fish.

He very much enjoyed living in Lancaster County for the last 10 years to be near most of his family and was especially grateful for his good neighbors who were there for him and his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Frank H Brown husband of Chris of Lititz, Terry Grafenstine wife of Richard of Lititz, Judith Wells wife of Josh of Ephrata, and Daniel Brown husband of Tracey of Mullica Hill, NJ; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Brown.

Friends will be received on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 9:30-10:30AM at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Drive, Lititz, PA, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Frank’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Dear Aunt Theresa and my awesome cousins,

I am so sorry that you have to say goodbye to your loving husband and father.
Please know that I cherish my memories of Uncle Frank more than you will ever know. He fascinated me since as a child and gave me quite a few laughs my last visit up your way.

There are treasures and riches hidden in the darkness. May you find them in the happy and endless memories Uncle Frank has given to each of you.

I think my own dad would want everyone to know that "Brownie" was once  a "professional kite flyer."  So, anytime you see a kite soaring in the skies, know your husband and fatheris right above you and watching over you.

Peace…Love, Annie-m
