Francis “Frank” Wilson, 91

Francis “Frank” Wilson, 91, of Lititz, PA, and formerly of York, passed away peacefully at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy on February, 8, 2016.
He was the husband of Wanda L. Piper Wilson, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage this past May 18th. Born in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Richard L. and Josie Ohlhausen Wilson.
Frank had worked 31 years for Caterpillar Tractor Co., holding various management positions in both the Peoria, IL and York plants.
A US Coast Guard veteran of World War II, he was a 1945 graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy, was commissioned as an Ensign and later promoted to Lt (jg). He served in the South Pacific, the North Atlantic and on the Great Lakes.
His numerous hobbies and interests included woodworking, traveling, camping and model railroading. He was also very involved at Landis Homes where he volunteered and enjoyed making quilts with his wife for Project Linus, an organization who gives quilts and blankets to children in trauma centers and hospitals.
Frank was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Wanda, he is survived by his children: Jeff C. married to Gwen Wilson of Newark, DE, Jack L. married to Lorie Wilson of Brownstown, and Jean L. married to Gordon Carver of Ellington, CT; their 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard F. Wilson.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 11AM-12 Noon at the West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA, with the Funeral Service to follow at 12 Noon. Private interment in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Frank’s memory to the Landis Homes Caring Fund, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543.
