Evelyn F. O’Connor, 89
Evelyn F. O’Connor, 89, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. O’Connor, who passed away in 1989. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Mary Cerney Fullam.
Evelyn was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, where she was active in the St. John Neumann Support Group and the Church Bazaar.
Surviving Evelyn are her five children, Dr. Thomas A., husband of Marie, Buffalo, NY, Jane O., wife of Col. Thomas A. Lenox, Reston, VA, Joseph D., husband of Kathryn, Greenville, SC, James M., husband of Melanie, Lititz, and Dr. Christopher J., Chicago, IL ,twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred O’Toole and her brother, Robert Fullam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 Noon on Monday, December 13, 2010, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 East Orange St., Lancaster, PA, with The Rev. Daniel C. Mitzel as Celebrant. There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends at a luncheon in the adjoining school cafeteria immediately following the Mass. Final Commendation and Farewell in the Archdiocese of the City of New York Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. I have never met a more selfless & giving woman. Growing up in a world where television portrayed perfect mothers of fantasy families your mother was the realistically perfect mother of a real family. Now, her job done, she is those she loved before waiting for those she still loves today. God bless her & all of you.

It is unfortunate that Bobby and I could not make it to Lancaster and New York City for Grandma’s funeral and burial. Please be assured that our thoughts and prayers will be with the rest of the family from Florida. We are happy that after a long and full life Grandma can be at rest now and that she will be celebrating Christmas in the most beautiful way imaginable this year!
