Eric was a good man. I know of no higher compliment. Eric was a caring, helpful neighbor to my mother, Hazel Derstler for years and I will always be grateful for this unwavering, friendly assistance. I enjoyed his company and respected his professional service to Lancaster. Godspeed Eric. You were (and still are) a good man. Thanks.

My condolences to the Stewart family, Eric will truly be missed at WBH on the night shift. He always was smiling even when life was tough. We often talked about family, friends, and travel to pass the time. As a new motorcyclist he would check in to see how I was doing and talk about his next road trip on his bike. The entire WBH family send our thoughts and prayers.

To the Stewart Family,
Eric was a good family friend. Eric and I grew up together back when we were just 2 kids playing together on Woodward St. I will always remember his family being so friendly to all of us kids. We always seemed to cross paths over the years to catch up and talk about our families. Eric will be greatly missed by our family. What a good man and friend.
God Bless,
Jeff Heming

“Gentlemen, what have you to report?” “Only this sir, the country is squarely behind you.” “Bully!” End of shift will never be the same without you, my friend. I will watch our favorite movie this year, as always, but I am sure a tear will dim my eyes. REQUIEM aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei . Requiescat in pace. Amen.

Being a detective i spent alot of time at various police departments throughout eastern PA. and much of that time not only at Lancaster City Police station but working with many LCPD officers and detectives. Eric was not only a wonderful man but a great officer as well. He was charasmatic, always very positive and upbeat, and just an absolute charm to be around and a great friend. we stayed in contact after we both retired and i always valued and cherished his friendship. He was one of the finest men i’ve ever known. The world was a much better place with him in it and sadly will be just a bit emptier with him gone. Gods’ speed my friend and i’ll miss you more than words can describe.
