Elizabeth L. Browning, 73
Elizabeth “Tibby” L. Browning, 73, of 2512 Saddle Dr., Lancaster, PA went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 27, 2008.
She was married for 52 years to Kempton “Skip” B. Browning. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late J. Perry and Esther J. Long. She graduated from Merchantville (NJ) High School in 1952 and from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Hospital School of Nursing in 1954.
Tibby retired in 1990 after working for a total of 25 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, the first 10 years in southern New Jersey and then in the Lancaster area for the balance of her career. She specialized in the field of OB/GYN and family practice at several different private practices in the area.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and a folk art painter. She also enjoyed water aerobics, solving newspaper puzzles, genealogy and traveling and was an avid reader.
Tibby was of the Christian faith.
One thing that Tibby was very proud of was her long-time friendships from childhood and high school. She was also known for having a great sense of humor.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 children: Garret L. married to Deborah A. Browning of Sanatoga PA, James W. Browning of Birdsboro, PA and Scott L. married to Valerie M. Browning of LaPlata, MD; 12 grandchildren; and by 2 sisters: Eleanor and Jane. She was preceded in death by a brother, John P. Long, Jr.
Friends will be received at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Wednesday from 11AM-12Noon, with a celebration of Tibby’s life at 12Noon, with the Rev. Richard Fehnel officiating. Interment will be on Thursday at 11AM in Harleigh Cemetery, 1640 Haddon Ave., Camden, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tibby’s memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to The Good Samaritan Fund of Brethren Village, Attn. Development Dept., 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606-5093.
