December 25, 2018

Edward E. Litsinger, 71, of Millersville, passed away Tuesday morning, December 25, 2018, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Edward E. Litsinger, Sr. and the late Leona L. (Griffen) Litsinger. Ed was the loving husband of Lynne M. (Ambrose) Litsinger, and together they shared 48 years of marriage.

After graduating from high school, Ed attended Kutztown University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended graduate courses at both Kutztown University and Alfred University. A former teacher, Ed taught Art for 13 years in both the Harrisburg and Loyalsock school districts. While attending Kutztown University, he began working with pottery, which developed into his true passion and he became a highly skilled artisan. He left teaching in 1983 to build his business, Cat House Pottery, which he owned and operated in Trout Run, PA from 1971 to 2011.

Following retirement, Ed became an avid golfer and was the Commissioner of the Tuesday Men’s League at Crossgates Golf Club in Millersville for a number of years. As a member of the American Legion Post 470 in Bath, PA, he enjoyed going on many golfing outings with his fellow legionnaires. Ed was a dedicated Cubs and Steelers fan.

A loving husband and father, Ed is survived by his wife, Lynne, and two daughters, Jennifer L. Madden of Oxford and her fiancée Greg Carr, and Corin K. Boysen and her husband Eric of Pottstown. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kaylee L. Madden, Joseph D. Madden and James E. Boysen; his father-in-law, Joseph Ambrose of Allentown; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Agnes (Shiflett) Bobeck, who raised him from the time he was 11 years old.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service which will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 3rd at the Charles F. Condolences to the Family

Lynne, Jennifer and Corin, we are thinking about you these days and know you are missing Ed so much.  Thinking about the good times when you lived here in Trout Run, seeing Ed’s pottery and greeting you all while we walked along the back road.  I have one of his pottery plates in my kitchen that I use often.  He leaves a special legacy of good memories and we hope they bring you comfort now.

My daughters, Dawn Johnston Steiner & Victoria Johnston Richards and I send our deepest Sympathies. I truly enjoyed working with Ed in his studio as a part time packer.  May you find comfort in your memories.  God Bless all of you.
