Edna E. Lachman
Edna E. Lachman, “Aunt Bobby”, age 103, died at her New Providence home on Tuesday, April 03, 2012. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George Edwin and Mary R. Martin Spangler. Her first husband J. Harold Fisher died in 1956 and her second husband Herbert C. Lachman died in 2000.
Edna helped her husband Harold in his custom made furniture business from 1935 to 1956, and then worked in the bookkeeping department of Fulton Bank for 15 years before retiring in 1970.
An avid traveler, Edna visited countries all over the world. She had been active in the Chester County Fire Police Association for 21 years, and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Quarryville.
Aunt Edna is survived by a stepdaughter Donna, wife of Walter Sharrer of Downingtown, her half-brothers George Spangler, Jr. and Victor Spangler both of Lancaster and 121 nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her brother Charles W. Spangler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 AM Monday, April 9, 2012, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA, with The Rev. Michael E. Messner as Celebrant. A Viewing will be held 9:30-10:30 AM on Monday at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA. Interment in Riverview Burial Park.
