E. Romaine Hornig, 85
E. Romaine Hornig, 85, of Millersville, passed away, Monday, September 5, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster Essa Flory Center. Born October 31, 1925 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Emma (Dittmer) Hoffmeier. Romaine was the mother of Martin Hornig’s children: Joann M. Leisey wife of Jerry of Ephrata, Larry E. Hornig husband of Kim of Duncannon, and Nancy Bowers wife of Jay of Columbia.
Romaine was employed by Black and Decker for 18 years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Guys and Dolls, Senior Citizens of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW Millersville Seniors group, and the GBU. She enjoyed playing cards, jig saw puzzles, traveling, flowers, and most of all spending time with friends and family.
Surviving in addition to her 3 children are 6 grandchildren: Randy Leisey of Ephrata, Wesley Hornig of Lancaster, Bambi Hornig of Leola, Sarah Bloom wife of Ian of Columbia, Joshua Bowers of Colorado, and Rebecca Bowers of Columbia. Several great grandchildren. A sister, Melanie Fitzgerald of Millersville, and several nieces and nephews in France.
Romaine was preceded in death by 7 siblings, and a half sister, Melanie Vonarb Hummel of France.
The Mass of Christian Burial for E. Romaine Hornig has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church 2111 Millersville Pike Lancaster 17603 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark E. Weiss as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Romaine requested memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of Lancaster 685 Good Dr. P.O. Box 4125 Lancaster 17604. hospiceoflancaster.org.
