E. Isabelle Chisholm, 87

E. Isabelle Chisholm, 87, a resident at Longwood Manor in Maytown  PA, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on January 21, 2008 following a brief illness while at the Lancaster General Hospital.

Isabelle was born in Youngstown, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Gustav and Ellen Nelson. She was the wife of James R. Chisholm who passed away in June of 2006.

Isabelle grew up in the Austintown, Ohio area and graduated with the Class of 1939 from Fitch High School. While at Fitch she excelled in all she attempted and was a member of the National Honor Society and cheerleading squad.

She met the love of her life while in high school, and in 1941 married her sweetheart James R. Chisholm, they were married 64 years.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband James, 3 sisters Dorothy Daulton, Edith Lipps, Eleanor Lukz, and one brother Carl Nelson.

Tears of  joy and sorrow fill our family for we will miss her dearly but, the Scriptures say that absent from the body is to be present with the Lord for believers. She was a loving wife, a sincere and compassionate friend, and a caring mother. Isabelle loved to entertain her friends and family with cooking, baking, playing Bridge, tea parties and especially her gourmet food parties. Jim and Isabelle had the opportunity to travel throughout America and Europe. She lived her 87 years of life to the fullest and was blessed by God in health, happiness, family, and friends. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held in her honor for family members at a time and place in Florida yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Isabelle to the Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. The Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel Inc. 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. 17543, 717-560-5100 is handling the arrangements

Scott and Barb,

We love you both and continue to hold you and your family in our prayers during this time of sorrow and personal loss. As I read the memorial tribute that was printed in the paper today, I was very much touched by the deep love, respect, and admiration you hold for your mother. What a wonderful and lasting imprint her life has made on you and many others as well.

We pray for the comfort of God’s touch to be real in so many different ways and expressions over the days to come.

Dear Chisholm sons and wives,

I last saw your mother shortly before Christmas when I visited Longwood Manor to see another resident.  She was eating lunch in the dining room.  I went over to her table and had about a five minute conversation with her.  She smiled and took my hand.  She had a very difficult time these last two years and my heart went out to her.  What a drastic change to her life!  She spoke of all of you often, trying to use the words to tell me about each of you.  She treasured all of you.  You were her pride and joy.  I wish I could have known her in her active years.  She truly must have been quite a lady.  I have enjoyed knowing her and hopefully being of some help to her after her unfortunate health problems.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Fondly,

Giny Mackey,  Speech Pathologist

Scott,

It is with deepest sympathy I learned of your mother’s passing. I trust God will uphold you and your family during this time and fill your hearts and minds with blessings of your most joyous memories. While difficult to truly understand the meaning of "being present with the Lord", your Mom is now experiencing a fulfilled promise that we can only wait for.

God bless you and your family as you remember your mother.
