Dorothy Ryder Flory

Dorothy Ryder Flory passed away peacefully under the loving ministrations of family, in her daughter’s home in in Lititz on April 14th. She was well into her 102nd year of life.

She was the wife of the late B. Rodney Flory, Sr. who passed away in October 2011. They were married for 71 years.

Born in Chambersburg, she was the 8th of 11 children of William and Martha Leidig Ryder.

Dorothy enjoyed her homemaking activities and was an avid gardener who entertained many friends and church members in her home over the years. She was a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church.

She is survived by her four children: B. Rodney, Jr. (Esther Young); Timothy R. (Geraldine Hartman); Emily (Kenneth Kilgore); Donald E. (Cathy Steiner); 13 grandchildren with whom she and her husband enjoyed many happy hours together; 17 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren; also one sister, Alice Rhodes Adler, residing in Atlanta, GA; and nine nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Longeneckers Reformed Mennonite meeting house, 602 Strasburg Pike, near Lampeter, at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 19, with Glenn Gross officiating. There will be a viewing one hour before the service. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery immediately following the service.
