Doriece Yvonnie Jones, 71
October 25, 2024
Doriece Yvonnie Jones, age 71 a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at her home on October 25, 2024. Born in Lancaster to the late Floyd and Frances (Cramer) Bailey, Doriece was a graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School, class of 1971. She was the beloved and cherished wife of Roger L. Jones whom she married on December 23, 1991.
Doriece was a Lifetime VFW Auxiliary Member with Millersville-Manor Post #7294, where she dedicated much of her time and spirit to supporting veterans and her community. Her love for animals, especially her cherished cats, was evident to all who knew her, and she held a special place in her heart for them.
Doriece found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gathering with friends and family to enjoy meals, with her favorite spot being the Conestoga Wagon, where she spent countless evenings. She also shared a love for the outdoors, often camping with her devoted husband, Roger, and creating lasting memories together. Her family and friends were her world, and she held them close in everything she did.
Doriece was dedicated and hard-working. She retired after 25 years at Y & S Candies and went on to pursue a second career and worked as a bookkeeper with Weis Markets.
In addition to her husband Roger of Millersville, Doriece is survived by her son, M. Christopher Peifer (husband of Kiera) of England; her granddaughter, Amber Peifer, of Nottingham; her sister, Vickie Lynn Baker, of Valrico, Florida; her aunt, Anna Mary Fitzkee of York; and her uncle, Stanley Cramer (husband of Myrna) of Millersville.
In addition to her parents, Doriece is preceded in death by her brothers: Martin E. Bailey and Ronald
W. Bailey.
The family would like to thank the medical staff of UPMC Lititz Hospital for Doriece’s care in the final weeks of her life. Also, a special thanks to Hospice and Community Care for making it possible for her to be at home for her final days.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Bachman Snyder Funeral Home, 7 S Decatur St, Strasburg, PA 17579, from 10am to 11am with a service to begin at 11am. Burial to follow at Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Doriece’s honor to: Hospice and Community Care, The Essa Flory Center, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Dear Roger and family Delmer and I were so sorry to hear of Doriece’s passing. We loved her so much. We always looked forward to the trips that her and Roger always came down to Tennessee and we would come over from North Carolina to visit. Delmer would always joke with her about the cats. Amber she sent us a picture in our Christmas card every year. She loved her family so much. We will be praying for you all in the weeks ahead that the Lord will give you all strength. A marvelous person who always kept her smile and chin up in the face of adversity.
I will miss her, and miss coercing her to eat a creme-filled doughnut from the bakery at Weis while looking at pictures of her beloved cats.
