Donald L. Robinson, 73

Donald L. Robinson, 73, of Millersville borough, beloved husband, father, Pap, and friend, died peacefully in the arms of his wife with his children by his side. He is now home in the presence of the Lord. Don suffered complications from serious fall on Sept.26th, three days after his return from a 50th anniversary celebration out west.

Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Robinson. Don was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Martin, and a brother, Richard Robinson.

He was a 1952 graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg. He then served in the US Navy during the Korean War, where he received the American Spirit Honor Medal. He served aboard the USS Bennington where he was a Fire Control Technician First Class. The Navy is where he received most of his electronics education.

Don was employed and retried from Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic, in 1988, and Nortel Communications in 1997.

He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millersville, where he served on the Board of Trustees, as a helper with the Alpha Group, and the Mens Tuesday morning prayer group. He was volunteer driver for Love Inc and Millersville Meals On Wheels. A member of the Telephone Pioneers, he had served as the Red Rose Chapter Past President. Don was also a member of the Millersville VFW Post 7294.

Don Enjoyed tinkering in his garage, and helping family, friends, and neighbors with all sorts of repairs. He had two Koi ponds which kept him occupied in the summer months.

He is survived by his wife, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 15, Andrea; four daughters: Jody, wife of Larry Ellis of Schererville, IN, Justy wife of Michael Trimble of Mountville, Jamie wife of Michael Burkhart of Leola, and Julie wife of Kevin Ayres of Glen Rock. Don is also survived by eight grandchildren: Brian and Jason Douts, Zachary and Cailyn Trimble, Hannah and Rachel Burkhart, and Colton and Clay Ayres; and by a great grandson, Brodey Douts.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of Don’s life at Grace United Methodist Church, 163 W. Frederick St, Millersville, PA 17551 on Saturday, November 10th at 11AM. His family will receive friends following the service in the church’s Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Don Robinson Fund, c/o Grace United Methodist Church in Millersville.
