Donald K. “Don” Steffy, 87
March 02, 2018
Donald K. “Don” Steffy, 87, of Lititz, formerly of Brickerville Pa, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Luther Acres Retirement Community. Born in Manheim, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry W. and Jeanette P. Steffy. Don was the loving husband of Janet Shelly Steffy and would have observed their 67th wedding anniversary on June 3.
Don was a graduate of Manheim Central High School. Don spent most of his life in Brickerville until 2016 when he and Janet moved to the Luther Acres Retirement Community. He was the epitome of the self-made man, progressing over the years from hard work as a farmer to being a self-taught developer and builder, always running his own business. He enjoyed reading and watching the Phillies. He also enjoyed spending time at auctions. He was an avid collector of antiques especially cast-iron toys and glassware.
He was of Lutheran faith and attended The Lititz Church of the Brethren.
Surviving in addition to his wife Janet, are three daughters: Donna, wife of Michael Enck of Lititz, Diane, wife of Michael Feister, Manheim, Dawn, wife of Scott Ruth, Lancaster. Five grandchildren: Alesha Rhinier (Rick), Josh Enck (Nicholle), Stephanie Balmer (Michael), David Feister, and Brittany Gonzalez (Josh) and 9 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death is a brother Roy Steffy and a sister Lois Steffy Eshleman.
The family wishes to thank all the staff and nurses at Luther Acres, Hospice Community Care, The Heart Group of Lancaster, Lancaster Hematology Oncology, and Baron Family Practice for their unconditional service and care.
A celebration of Don’s life will take place 11 AM Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, PA 17543, with Rev. Eric Landram officiating. Don’s family will greet friends at the church on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM and Thursday from 10 to 11 AM. Private interment in Brickerville Lutheran Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
