Donald Eugene Clark, 91

June 20, 1926 - August 11, 2017

Donald Eugene Clark, 91, loving husband of the late Joan Henry Clark and formerly of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania went home to be with his Lord on Friday August 11, 2017 at Masonic Village, where he had been a resident since November of 2016. Born in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania on June 20th 1926, he was the son of the late John Chester Clark and Mary Wharton Clark. His wife of 65 years, Joan, his youngest son, Gary H Clark, and his sister Clara Jane Armitage preceded him in death.

A veteran of WW II, Don was drafted upon graduation from high school in 1944 and served in the Navy until June of 1946. He attended Westminster College in the fall of 1946 on the GI Bill graduating with a BS in Mathematics in 1950. Talon Zippers of Meadville, Pennsylvania employed him for 31 years finishing his career as director of capital planning. He was the past president of the school board of the Conneaut Lake Area School District, elected to two six year terms resigning during the second one to become the Boy Scout master of Troop 221 of Conneaut Lake so that his sons would have a troop to attend. He was a 32nd degree Mason joining in 1950 and the past monarch of the Ohio Grotto Association, in which he and Joan enjoyed many years of participation and travel.

He was a great father; never missing a Little League game or a high school athletic event his sons were in. He enjoyed Cleveland Indians baseball attending his first game with his father in 1936 at the age of ten and proudly telling anyone who would listen that he saw Bob Feller pitch one of his no hitters. He enjoyed his 91st birthday this year at the Cleveland Indians baseball game in Baltimore.

He is survived by son Mark H. Clark and spouse Lisa Clark of Coshocton, Ohio, son Dr. Neil R. Clark and spouse Susan Burlingame of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, daughter-in-law Penny Clark, widow of his late son Gary Clark of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, his nephew Ian Armitage, niece Ruth Ann Armitage, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Fifth Street United Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake on Saturday, August 19th 2017 with visiting hours from10:00-11:00 AM and funeral services to immediately follow. The Reverend Samuel Heagy will preside. Interment will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear father Don.  He was a very dear friend for many years in Grotto.  We had many good years of travelling with he and Joan and attending events together.  We shall always think of him fondly with the good memories we made together.
Joyce Chapman
