Donald E. Zimmerman, 68
January 17, 2023
Donald E. Zimmerman, 68, of Quarryville, passed away at Hospice & Community Care on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Richard and Ruth (Swift) Mayer. He was the loving husband of Deborah (Bard) Zimmerman, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Don was the type of man, that you may not have known but felt like you had known him your whole life. Jokes and making people happy were his specialty. He’d help or give anything he could even if it included the shirt off his back.
Donald enjoyed being president of his Bowling League at Ox Grove Lanes (Timber Lanes) for many years. He enjoyed setting up his train tracks for his granddaughters, which he had enjoyed most of his life. His flower garden and fish ponds were his pride and joy and were always beautiful. Another one of his favorite things was his music and his Playlist’s that mostly included the 70’s. Although he loved and enjoyed all those things the love for his wife, daughter and two grandchildren were the most important. Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his loving wife, Deborah, Donald is survived by his daughter Catherine (Zimmerman) Himelright (partner, Keith Graybeal); his grandchildren Kaitlyn Himelright (boyfriend, Robert Fellenbaum) and Kendall Himelright; and a large extended family.
A Celebration of Donald’s Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or 1818 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

Deb- I am very sorry to hear about Don’s passing – I looked up to Don alot over the years and am extremly grateful for what he tought me in the car wash business. He was the teacher and I was the student that did my best to absorb as much knowledge as he could offer me. His talent and knowledge in the business was nothing short of incredible. I always appreciated my joke of the day of course – great laughs. Don helped me through.. and got me through a lot over the years.. I am very grateful. He would always talk about you, Kathy and his grandkids with a smile. – I know he loved you all very much. I am very sorry for our loss, you are in my family’s prayers.
