Donald B. Zook, 47

July 17, 2017

Donald B. Zook, 47, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday, July 17, 2017. Born in Lancaster to the late Robert P. and Elizabeth A. (Long) Zook, Sr, Donald was the husband of Karen Reinert-Zook.
Donald owed a great debt to his Godfather, Ted Darcus, who took Donald under his wing after his father, Robert, died while Donald was a young teen. Ted introduced Donald to the Boys and Girls Club, encouraged him to complete high school and encouraged him to join the Navy.
Throughout his life, Donald volunteered time with a variety of charitable organizations such as Bright Side Baptist Church and Opportunity Center, Toys for Tots campaign, Crispus Attucks Community Center, Long’s Park annual Sertoma Chicken BBQ and helped with numerous Republican Committee campaigns and activities in Lancaster.
He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his beloved dogs and watching his favorite baseball team, The Philadelphia Phillies.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his daughter, Holly Singer; siblings: Carol Book, William Zook, Sr., James Zook, and Dianne Metzger. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Zook, Jr. and sister, Cynthia Schickel.
Family and friends are invited to visit the family between 4PM and 7PM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 for a Celebration of Life Gathering. This gathering will be held at Bright Side Baptist Church, 515 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in Donald’s name be made to Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602, to help defray the cost of services.
