Dolores Agatha Gibble, 89
January 05, 2019
Dolores A. (Mimm) Gibble, 89, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Born in Lancaster on January 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Mimm and Anna (Williams) Mimm. Affectionately known to her family and friends as “Utz,” Dolores was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster.
Dolores worked at Kerr Glass as a Quality Control Inspector for more than 30 years. She retired from Kerr to spend more time with her children and grandchildren. She was a gifted singer known for her renditions of Ave Maria, “Memories” from the musical Cats, and various other show tunes. She spent her younger years swing dancing and was a wonderful good Jitterbug dancer. Dolores loved animals, especially dogs, cats, and (flipping) birds. She was a big fan of TV game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, even though she insisted the show was rigged. Dolores was the third member of the slow-driving crew, the proverbial Miss Daisy to Aunt Mary and Uncle Pete. The crew could usually be found at Arby’s eating roast beef sandwiches as slowly as humanly possible, Mary and Pete drinking coffee and Dolores sipping on hot tea with lemon.
Dolores is survived by her children: Stephen Gibble of Lancaster, Constance Krause, wife of Scott, of Mountville and Matthew Gibble, husband of Lisa, of Ridgewood New Jersey, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by 12 siblings. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to all those who lovingly assisted with Dolores’s care over the past several years.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dolores’s memory may be made to Caring Hospice, 101 Good Drive, 1st Floor, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the animal rescue of your choice.
