Dolores A. Leanza, 84

January 06, 2018

Dolores A. Leanza, 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in York, PA, Dolores was the daughter of the late Josephine T. (Englert) Neiss, and M. Luther Mathiot, and stepparents “Jay” Neiss and Sarah Mathiot. Dolores enjoyed gardening, bird watching and spending time with family. She was a woman of quiet strength which she gained through a loving relationship with Jesus. Through her bravery and strong faith, Dolores fought a 32-year battle with a chronic lung disease, bronchiectasis.

In addition to her husband, Dolores is survived by her children: Melissa Leanza, Maria Shedleski, Terese wife of Dr. Daniel Weinlader, Krista, wife of William Chalfant, Scott Leanza, and Tony Leanza, all of the Lancaster area. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Dolores’ life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30PM followed by the Celebration of Life. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Condolences to the Family

Dear Al and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dolores was a wonderful companion for your life’s journey. Even though I have not had contact in recent years, I remember her smile and commitment to Girls and Boys Club and family. I am sorry I was unable to attend the services. It was at the same time as Jean Martin’s memorial service. Jean was one of my best friends and her children are very dear to me so that is where I eeded to be. Having said that, I said a prayer for Dolores and all of you while in the church.   Kathy Kuzmiak

Dear Leanza Family,
We are so sorry for your loss.  What a kind and wonderful woman!  We always felt the Leanza family bond when we spent time with you, and Mrs. Leanza was the backbone of that.  She will continue on in each of you as you carry on that important family bond she instilled.
Much love,
Steve and Beth Kohler

To Mr. Albert Leanza,
My deepest condolences on the loss of your wife.  She was a great woman, always kind, fair and above all else, loving. I think of you both often.
To the family, Melissa, Maria, Terese, Krista, Scott, and Tony,
Thinking of you all.  It is hard to lose a parent, but your mom was one of the best.  Keep her spirit in your hearts.  She always made me feel welcome and loved. I wish I could be there to give each of you a hug, but you will be in my thoughts.  Love you guys, and miss you.   Bill Brecht
