Dimitria S. Manuel, 86

August 14, 2017

Dimitria S. Manuel, 86, of Lancaster passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at LGH. Born in Kos, Greece, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Kontostavlinio (Zervanos) Tripolitis. She was the wife of the late Steve G. Manuel who passed away in 2003.

She is survived by her daughter, Constance M. Gianulis, wife of Fr. Milton of Williamsburg, VA; two sons, George S. Manuel of Williamstown, PA, John Manuel, husband of Karen of Virginia Beach, VA; stepson, Steve Manuel, husband of Jaylene of State College, PA; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny J. and George J. Tripolitis and three sisters, Thaleia, Eleni and Maria.

Dimitria was a faithful member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where she served as past president for the Philoptocos Society and various church committees. Her beloved priest, Fr. Alex Veronis, put it best: she was a “parish lay minister to many. She had a sharp mind, perceptive spirit, and most gracious demeanor. Her open heart made everyone feel welcome. Hence many gravitated towards her and sought her opinion and counsel.” She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, doing for them what she loved best: spoiling them with incomparably delicious food and pastries. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life. A practical woman, “Mitsa” kept her feet on the ground, but her eyes always on her Lord.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:30AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA. Viewing times are as follows: Thursday evening at the Annunciation Church 6-8PM, a Trisagion Service will be held at 7PM, and Friday 11-11:30AM. Interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Dimitria’s memory may be sent to Annunciation Church, 64 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA.

My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you at this very difficult time.  Mitsa was a wonderful and caring person who loved her family deeply.  I have many memories of staying over at your house near hammonds pretzels when I was very little.  I’m glad I got over to visit her with my brother Steve last summer, she always made you feel at home, and was always feeding you pastries.
GBU,
Brenda (Steve’s sister)
