Dick Sarver
November 20, 2022
Richard Boss Sarver died unexpectedly Sunday November 20th. Known by many as Dick those closest to him knew him as Uncle Dick. Uncle Dick had that instant ability to endear himself to all he met over his lifetime. He attended Northland College in Ashland, WI. Dick made many friends at Northland but 3 in particular remained best friends throughout his life: Doug Venell of Acton, ME. Chip Snyder of Lititz, PA and Richard Sterling of Port Royal, PA and Dick’s roommate for the past 8 years. Dick took away from Northland a deep appreciation for the out of doors and everything natural. This led to Dick’s career in agriculture, the growing and harvesting of fruits flowers and shrubs in Maine, Connecticut and New Hampshire. An industry known for foreign labor, Dick was a quick study learning the different languages of South and Central Americans putting him a position of management and respected by all that worked under him.
Uncle Dick leaves behind his best friend and sister Cynthia (Cid) Adams and husband Bo of York, Maine, sister Lisa Reis and husband Eric of Ramona, CA and
brother Scott Sarver and wife Molly of Manhattan Beach, CA.
Five nieces and nephews who adored their true Uncle Dick are Courtney and Wyatt Adams, Kara and Ryan Reis, and Thomas Sarver.
Uncle Dick was one of the nicest, easy going, straightforward, and loving men on the planet. He loved his friends and family more than anything and all he would ask for is that you remember him fondly, share a laugh in remembrance, plant a tree or shrub on his behalf and finally hoist a frosty Budweiser in his honor.

Our sympathy to the Sarver, Adams and Reis families. Dick was a kind person who had a great sense of humor. We knew him through brother Doug and also through the friendship between our moms. He was always fun to be around. —Chip Venell

We miss you, Dick. We shared so much growing up together walking in the woods, exploring, learning to appreciate wildlife, and practicing being amateur naturalists together. We also shared plenty of mischief and merriment where you were always the life of the party and amused and charmed us all with your humor and teasing, laughs and cheers. You brought us to Maine, and we’ll look forward to planting a fruit tree, honoring you. It’s been a gift to have you as a friend for 50 years and your family as well. Sending kind thoughts to Lisa, Cindy, and Scott.
Love from Doug and Julie Venell

After college, Dick would always come to visit me before heading on to his sisters for the holidays. I will miss him. Especially the Sunday morning calls about NFL football.
My sympathies to his family.

What a beautiful tribute to Dick Sarver. I’m a Northland College friend of his since 1971. Dick had two types of smiles. One was him laughing along with you, and one was this impish smile that you know was up to something or thinking of something funny to say. We were all getting together yearly at Jed and Ellen’s and even a couple of years ago until the Covid hit, he still had that same hilarious sense of humor. Us Northland College peeps have known him for 50 years and if we all got together we could spin fun and funny Dick Sarver stories for another 50 years! My condolences to Dick’s family and all of us other great friends for so many years. He has left us with so many great memories in life, so thank you Dick Sarver! What a guy! Also, thank you, Chip Snyder for all you’ve done. Rob Pfeiffer, aka Fishman
