Derek E. Banks, 40

Derek E. Banks, 40, of Akron , PA passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at York Wellspan after a brief illness. Born in Santa Ana, he was the son of Debra (Johnson) and Albert Banks. He was the loving husband to Brandie (Bivins) Banks for 18 years.

After relocating to Akron, from California, Derek became involved at The Worship Center. Derek was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He worked as a Service manager for Benjamin Roberts. In his free time he enjoyed attending Lancaster Barnstormer games and watching the Oakland Raiders. He was a talented woodworker and loved to hunt and fish. Derek was truly a family man. Most of all he cherished trips to Washington DC and the beach with his family. He was always up for a new adventure.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Evelyn, Olivia and Macy; his brothers-in-law: Beau Bivins husband of Heather of Leola, Jake Bivins husband of Christa of Gordonville and Brandon Bivins of Lancaster; his sisters LeAndra Francis wife of Zak and Danielle Banks both of California; his nieces and nephews: Remington, Caden, Bella, Ethan, Dakotah, Mo, Sahara, Marcus, Vonyea, Amelia and Jazmaya.

A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at The Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Services will be live-streamed at 11AM, Worshipcenter.org/funeral.
