Delma R. Gordon Layton, 76
Delma R. (Gordon) Layton, 76, of Lititz went home to be with Jesus on January 10, 2020. Born in Everett, PA she was one of eight born to the late Harvey E. Gordon and Dolly V. (Young) Gordon and the wife of Roy Layton.
A graduate of Everett High School, Delma was always interested in medicine and being of service to others. She was employed by Cornerstone Heath and Lancaster General Hospital, where she worked as a Lab Technician. Delma was also heavily involved with Brickerville EMS and Warwick EMS, where she volunteered for over 30 years total between the two. She also was an instructor for CPR training through the Red Cross and American Heart Association.
Delma was a skilled crafter and loved to sew, knit, and crochet. Her talent was used to make her daughter’s wedding dress, many gifts for family and friends, prayer shawls, and items for charity. Delma donated her hand made hats and booties for pre-mature babies at Lancaster General and made angel gowns for still born babies through Share of Lancaster. She also enjoyed flowers and tending to her garden, where she took pride in her beautiful blooms. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she cherished her time with her grand and great-grandchildren and family.
A devout Christian, she was a member of Grace Community Fellowship and volunteered her time to assist with Sunday School.
Delma is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy Layton, her children; Brian Layton (Rhonda), Paula Groff (Tony), and Barry Layton, grandchildren; Matthew (Gillian), Mark (Chrissy), Daniel, and Paul Layton, Paige Perry, Nathan (Kerri), Austin, Tyler, and Shenyele Groff, great-grandchildren; Jase and Colton Groff and Hazel and Melody Layton, sister Edna Williams, and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Helen Clark, Lilly Trevagli, Elizabeth Reed, Agnes Myers, Regina Rush, and Harry Gordon.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 10:00am at Grace Community Fellowship Church located at 1483 N Colebrook Rd, Manheim, PA 17545. Guests will be received prior to the service starting at 9:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Share of Lancaster at 414 E. King Street Lancaster, PA 17602.

I was acquainted with Delma through her ambulance work. She played an important role in saving the life of a good friend (Benuel King) who was victim of a farm accident involving a head injury. My wife and I extend our condolences to her family. She will certainly be missed by many.
