Deborah Shelane Ford
June 11, 2015
Deborah S. Ford, of Lancaster, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, departed this life on Thursday, June 11, 2015, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the widow of Dale C. Ford and Ronald E. Clary. Deborah was the daughter of the late Alfred and Hattie (Calhoun) Hazelwood.
Besides working in operating rooms as a RN and surgical technician for more than 40 years, Deborah was active in her church and civic organizations-serving on several boards and committees in the church and community. As a member of Bright Side Baptist Church for more than 30 years, one of her greatest accomplishments was coordinating the Bright Side Annual Community Health & Fitness Fair, which brought members from all parts of the community together to provide a day of screenings, information and fun for the community.
Mrs. Ford leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Bronnie, Alameda, CA, and Alfred D. and DeMarcus B. Hazelwood, Indianapolis, IN. She was the mother of three biological children, James Adams, Jr., Raleigh, NC, Victor L. Muhammad (Mayra), Pittsburgh, PA, and Khadijah Adams-Coffield (Edgar Louis), Indianapolis, IN; and twelve grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From the blended families, she leaves to cherish her memory, Andre Ford, Tampa, FL, Dr. Ronald Clary, Jr., Providence, RI, Cynthia Drewes, NJ, Lisa Budram (Raymond), Baltimore, MD, and Anntonette Gale, Providence, RI; as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grands.
A memorial service will be held at Bright Side Baptist Church on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10 am. The visitation will take place from 9-10 am. Repass will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bright Side Baptist Church Youth Department, 515 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.
