David G. LaPiana, 46

April 14, 2021

David G. LaPiana, 46, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2021. Born in Syracuse, he was the son of the late John C. LaPiana and Carol A. (Spencer) LaPiana Porceng.

A graduate of Drexel University, David enjoyed visiting Hilton Head, NC and deep-sea fishing. It was an early family vacation spot that stuck with him into adulthood. After losing his father at a young age, he was introduced to Camp Good Days and Special Times in Syracuse, New York. He would go on to volunteer for them to bond with children that experienced similar loss. He also had a love for rescuing Golden Retrievers. As an adult he adopted 4 Golden Retrievers from the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue, which he referred to as his fur babies. David’s sense of humor was legendary.

He will be sorely missed by his siblings: Julie LaPiana Evarts, wife of Rob of Lancaster, Jeffrey LaPiana, husband of Karen of Charlotte, NC, Mark LaPiana, husband of Alesha also of Charlotte, NC, his best friend, Randy Haldeman of Phoenixville, his nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Doo”: Sarah, Mac, Emma, Tessa, Jennifer, Krysten (Jonny), Anthony, Isabella, Anne Elizabeth, and Jack and his Golden Retriever, Gina. He was preceded in passing by his parents, step father, J. Richard Porceng and rescued fur babies: Bo, Luke and Bear.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue

Condolences to the Family

Im so very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I saw him about a month ago in person and have been trying to get ahold of him this past week and it’s not like him to not answer because he would always listen to me vent about my life and try to offer me insight. Last night I decided to go to a restaurant that he frequents it and I swore I kept hearing his voice but I couldn’t find him so I asked the waitress if she had heard or seen him and unfortunately she told me about his passing the world lost a great soul and a great friend! RIP to a legend..I’ll see you when i get there.

Dave was one of my best friends all through college and even a few years beyond. We all lose track of people and lose those close connections, and that is a damn shame. The news of Dave’s passing was a blow to his entire DU crew and something I know none of us were expecting at all. Dave is way too positive a spirit and way too pragmatic a human being to be gone so soon. We love you Dave Lapajew and we hope to God you are happier and healthier where you are now. Until we meet again my good, good, GREAT old friend. – Orban and Company

Dear Julie, Jeffrey, Mark and families, We were so sad to hear of David’s passing. David was a bright spot in our family and it seems, in the lives of many. Camp Good Days and our family are both sunnier because of him! May our Heavenly Father and wonderful memories of a great brother, uncle and friend help heal your aching hearts and bring you all comfort and peace.
With love and prayers, Jackie, Dana, Molly & Max Perrin

My heartfelt prayers are with you and your family.  It’s so difficult because I’m still grieving for my beautiful Simone.  I trust God’s plan and the promise we will be with them forever more
