David F. Jones, Sr., 78

March 3, 1946 - August 31, 2024

With great sadness, the family of David F. Jones, Sr. announce his passing on August 31, 2024, at Life Care Center in Elizabethton, TN. Born on March 3, 1946, in Chester County, PA, he was the son of the late Walter J. Jones and Mary O (Caldwell) Jones Davis.

Shortly following his high school graduation, he served in the United States Navy as a parachute packer & rigger during the Vietnam War. He was a beacon to his community serving over 35 years with the Avondale Fire Company, where many will remember him running Bingo on Monday nights. David’s most treasured time and memories were spent with his family. They looked forward to their regular bowling nights and fishing. He found great solace fishing the waters of Tennessee, where he would frequently take his family to go fishing, and the reason for his relocation in recent years.

He will be sorely missed by his children: David “Chip” Jones, Jr. of Houtzdale, Laura Jensen of Fayetteville, Justin Jones of Lititz, and Sarah Jones of Quarryville; grandchildren: Michael Armendariz of Nottingham, Jesse Armendariz of Oxford, and Cheyanne Barnett of Paradise, as well as a brother, Charles Jones. He was preceded in passing by his parents, a son, Tyler Jones, a granddaughter, Melissa Pearson, and siblings, Marie Reece, John Jones, and Eugene Jones.

A committal service honoring David will be held at the Little Britain Presbyterian Cemetery, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in his name to the Avondale Fire Company, 23 Firehouse Way, Avondale, PA 19311.
