Condolences to the Family

Dave and I were at Grad School together, each working on a PhD, in Organic Chemistry, working for the same Research Advisor.  I knew DAVE before he fell in love wit, and married Maurine. I loved them both, attended their wedding, spent quiet time with them during the grad school years. When we both moved beyond PSU, our friendship continued. Gretchen came, and I had the honor of being her Godfather.
Both Dave and Maurine were outstanding people. David Ripple was the “salt of the earth”, willing to help anyone needing an assist, loving friends over many, many years and so supportive of children and family.  If only the world had millions and millions of DAVE Ripples; our worldly problems would be very few.
He loved Maurine, GRETCHEN and Carl without condition. He was a perfect example of father and friend. He will be remembered.
Love you “Big Rip”
JLM

Just returned from a Canadian RV trip to learn of Dave’s death. To say we are sorry is an understatement. We do hope his passing was quick & easy for him. We know it will not be quick or easy for you, Maurine. Or for you too Gretchen. I have a commitment that I can’t get out off, but Sterling is still working on the possibility of coming to Lititz.
Again want to convey our sorrow. Do take care of yourselves, and know that we care.
God bless, Sara & Sterling Coleman

Our thought and prayers go out to the Ripple Family.  I have fond memories of working with Dave at LZ for many years.  We even travelled to Japan together.  I still have some fossils Dave found and gave me.  I use them with grade school students that I tutor so indirectly he has influenced future generations of scientists.  We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I had many opportunities to work with Dave during my tenure at Lubrizol.  He was a joy to work with and even more of a joy to know.  RIP Rip.
