David Douglas Stouffer, 72

November 05, 2023

David Douglas Stouffer, 72, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his home in Orlando, Florida. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Henry C. Stouffer Jr. and Virginia (Brenner) Stouffer.

David graduated in 1969 from Manheim Township High School and from Ohio University in 1973. In 1981 he earned his MBA from La Salle University. He began his professional career with the Campbell’s Soup Company and went on to become an auditor for the New Jersey Casino Control Commission.

In 1989, David embarked on a new journey, founding DDS Rare Coins with his father, Henry C. Stouffer, Jr. He enjoyed this successful business venture that spanned over 32 years. David delighted in attending coin shows throughout eastern United States.

A golfer at heart, David relished the game throughout his life. He played competitively at a young age and continued in tournament play in later years. Over 25 years ago David ventured to Scotland initially to play golf. This led to lasting friendships and many great rounds of golf, with Scotland becoming a second home. While David played courses internationally, he especially loved golf rounds at Muirfield, the Old Course at St. Andrews, and the Royal Dornoch, where he was a member. His greatest joy though was his many golf rounds with his wife Jan.

David also loved travel and had many international adventures. As a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, David enjoyed season tickets for many years. He delighted in family time and cherished his Sundays with his stepdaughter Christina and her family. David and Glenn enjoyed being rival football team fans. Natalie and Nina will remember their ‘extra’ grandpa with great affection.

David is survived by his loving wife Jan, his stepdaughter Christina I. Carson-Sacco (Glenn), stepson Shawn T. Carson (Pan Tao-Yi), step granddaughters Natalie E. Sacco and Nina C. Sacco, his sister Lynne Ehrman (Skip), and nephews Geoffrey B. Ehrman (Dana Mead), Matthew C. Ehrman (Jenny), Andrew D. Ehrman (Magda), and great niece Amelia R. Ehrman.

He had a host of friends who loved him, and he will be remembered by all who knew him for his sharp sense of humor, his entertaining storytelling, and his courage facing multiple health issues through the years.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will welcome guests at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Kidney Cancer Association: https://secure.kidneycancer.org/np/clients/kca/donation.jsp

Jan, I am so sorry for your loss.
Dave and I were friends through our teenage years.  He was a year ahead of me at Manheim Township.
I still remember the many days after school we all met in front of Shaeffer grade school (Grandview Heights) for sandlot football and Dave loved to play quarterback.
His mother Virginna (Ginny) belonged to the same bridge club as my mother (Gene Worrest) and for 30 years they played every Thursday at a member’s home.
Again, I’m sorry to hear of his passing.

I met David and Jan at the gym. David had shared with me the treatment he was undergoing and I thought he was so brave, because he was so positive. He was a lovely man with a warm smile and that is how I remember him. Jan and family have my understanding and heartfelt condolences.
