Daniel J. Geraci, 64, of Holtwood, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, Dan was the husband of Linda (Kovaleski) Geraci and the son of Theresa Anthea (Long) Geraci and the late Charles J. Geraci, a World War II veteran.

Dan served in the US Air Force with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was later honored with a commendation from President Nixon for his work on Air Force One while stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. He was a member of AMVETS, Post #19, Millersville VFW, Post #7294, as well as other veteran organizations. He was involved in The Wounded Warrior Project and a proud sponsor of “Believe in Heroes!” Dan was well known for his dedication to and continuous support of our troops, sending care packages and providing assistance to the families of veterans here at home.
Prior to his retirement, Dan worked in production at Armstrong World Industries. He especially enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, fishing, hunting and spending “happy hour” at the Frogtown Café with his friends and retired veterans. Dan was of the Catholic Faith and belonged to St. Anthony of Palau Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, Linda, and mother, Theresa, Dan is survived by three siblings: Charles J. Geraci, husband of Ellen (Trauger), New Providence, Theresa H. Ditzler, wife of Michael B. Ditzler, of Lancaster, and George M. Geraci of Lancaster; Nieces: Nina Geraci, Melissa Kramer, great niece, Miah Kramer, and nephews, Harry Connell of Pequea, Ryan Kovaleski, and Bradley Kovaleski of MN.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551. A prayer service will follow with The Rev. Dan Richards officiating. Immediately following the ceremony, a celebration of Dan’s life will be held at Valentino’s Café, 132 Rider Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.

Daniel will be laid to rest with military honors by the Air Force Honor Guard from Dover Air Force Base, on April 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

I met Dan at the Frogtown Inn  when I was visiting friends of  mine, and who were also friends of Dan, when I was visiting Pennsylvania.  What a nice guy, with a great sense of humor.                                                                                                                                     Elaine Van Aulen     (Florida)

George, Theresa and the Geraci family. My heart aches for the loss of Danny. Even though I haven’t seen your family in quite a few years, I remember all the great times we had as teens hanging out at your house and our favorite spots. I remember Danny always kidding me and making me laugh. Good memories. You will be in my prayers.

My heart aches for the Geraci family and friends left in the wake of Danny’s sudden death.  We grew up together and went to St. Anthony’s and LCHS together.  My parents and aunts and uncles all grew up and hung out with the Geraci aunts and uncles.  Our families have been intertwined for many, many years.  I feel so bad that I was unable to attend The get togethers of my former St. Anthony’s classmates.  I would have gotten to see his smile and hear his laugh one last time.  You left us too soon Danny…..you will be sadly missed by many.

I was so sorry to learn that one of my classmates has passed on. I didn’t know Danny that well except that he and his sister were nice kids. My memory of Danny goes way back to elementary school. They were at St. Mary’s for a short time, where he came to my rescue one day when another classmate was picking on me. Our paths only crossed briefly at LCHS, but he was well known as a nice guy. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Jolanta (Rogers) Vandoren, Arlington VA
