Dale J. Bastendorf, 72

Dale J. Bastendorf, 72, of Lancaster, entered into rest at home on May 30, 2006 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Edith Bastendorf McCombs.  He was the husband of Joan L. Gilbert Bastendorf.  They would have celebrated their 54^th wedding anniversary on June 14^th.  Dale was employed as a machinist for 15 years at Kerr Glass.  Later, he worked in the maintenance department at the Lancaster County Prison and in security at the Manheim Auto Auction.

A Lancaster Catholic High School Graduate, Dale was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. During the Korean War he served in the US Navy.

Surviving along with his wife are a daughter, Cynthia wife of Roger Macarevich of Tulsa, OK; son, Michael husband of Carol Bastendorf of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren, Danylle Stewart, Olivia Fraunfelter, Dustin Bennett, Lauren Bastendorf; 5 great grandchildren, Zachary Douglas, Ryan Stewart, Taylor and Natalie Fraunfelter, and Livia Jones-Bennett.  He is also survived by a number of cousins with whom he was raised.

A memorial service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA on Friday at 7PM.  Friends will be received at the funeral home from 6-7PM.  Please omit flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made in Dale’s memory to the Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
