Cordelia “Dee Dee” Sammon

Cordelia “Dee Dee” Sammon, died on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at The Glen at Willow Valley.

She was the eighth of eleven children of the late William and Hanna Taylor of Dushore, PA. After graduating from Dushore High School, she continued her education at Bloomsburg State Teachers College.

During World War II, she served 3 years in the US Navy at a Sr. Lt. in the cryptographical department of the Navy in Philadelphia. During the war years, she married Lt. William J. Sammon, a US Army fighter pilot from Drexel Hill, PA.

After the war, she joined her husband in his real estate business with offices in Drexel Hill and later in Haverford and Bryn Mawr. She was a licensed insurance and real estate agent.

In January 1995, she retired and moved with her husband to Willow Valley Manor North in Lancaster. Mr. Sammon died unexpectedly in April of 1995.

Dee Dee is survived by her son, William R. married to Patricia Sammon of Omaha, NE, her granddaughters Sarah Humpal and Abby Martin; her brother William C. Taylor and her sister Patricia Murphy, both of Willow Valley.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 1:30 to 2:30PM at the Johnson Auditorium of Willow Valley Manor North, 600 Willow Valley North, Lancaster, PA, with the Memorial Service to follow at 2:30PM, the Rev.
