Claire S. Cushnie, 95

July 23, 1924 - September 29, 2019

Claire S. Cushnie, 95, of Pequea, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2019 at ManorCare in Lancaster. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Catherine (Haas) Stavrum, and the wife of the late George C. Cushnie.
After graduating from high school, Claire worked as a Management Assistant for Provident National Bank for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who always placed the needs of her family above all else. Following retirement, Claire and her husband George began traveling in their motor home at least six months out of every year, spending summers in Avalon, NJ, and winters in Florida, where they became part owners of an RV Park near Big Pine Key. While living in Florida, Claire was an active member of the Big Pine United Methodist Church, and after moving to Lancaster in 2007 became an active member of Conestoga United Methodist Church. She enjoyed needlework, cross stitch, and spending time with friends and family.
Claire is survived by her daughter, Beverly Katalenas and her husband George of Pequea, and her son, George Cushnie and his wife Leslie of Scottsville, VA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Claire was predeceased by her sister, Yvonne Achuff.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service which will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday October 14, 2019, at the Conestoga United Methodist Church, 71 Sand Hill Road, Conestoga, PA. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
