Clair Denman “Denny” Johnson, Jr., 66

November 20, 2018

Clair Denman “Denny” Johnson Jr, 66, of Lancaster passed away on November 20, 2018 following a long illness. Born in Downingtown, he was the son of the late Clair Denman Johnson, Sr. and the late Kathryn Johnson. Denny was the loving husband of Deborah J. (Clark) Johnson and together they shared 17 years of marriage.
Denny was an amazing husband, father, pop pop and friend. He worked as a quality control specialist for LNP in Thorndale for most of his life. Denny influenced the lives of many through coaching girls’ softball for 18 years. He absolutely loved being an umpire, and prior to his illness he umpired softball games for multiple church, mens and girls leagues for more than 20 years. Denny was an avid sports fan and stuck by his favorite teams no matter what! He loved hockey and rooted for the Hershey Bears and the Capitals. He was also a huge Cowboys fan and his favorite baseball team was the Phillies. One of the joys of his last days was a trip to a Phillies game with Debbie.
In addition to his wife, Denny is survived by his three children Tara, wife of Shawn Weitzel, Tracy wife of Chad Johnson and Scott, husband of Sara Johnson; his step son, Jason Wolf; his grandchildren, Elio, Lexi, Chase, Wesley, Cody, Dylan, Colten and Meia; and his sister Kathleen.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial service which will be held for Denny on Tuesday, November, 27 at 11 am at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will begin receiving guests at 10 am. In lieu of flowers donations in Denny’s memory may be offered to the Bethany Church Benevolence Fund, 3030 Bethany Lane Ellicott City, MD 21042 or yourbethanyec.org.

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family, Debbie.  We are so sorry to learn of Denny’s passing.  We haven’t seen you in a while but we’ll always remember the discussions about softball and the Hershey Bears as we shared some beverages at the Otters. We hope all the fun memories you have of Denny will help to comfort you at this difficult time.
Blessings to you and the family,
Pat and Deb Busser

Rest in Peace, friend. Always remember all our great times and great teams, coaching against each other and with each other.  So many players and parents from so many different organizations out there whose lives you touched. They will always remember “Denny and those crazy argyle socks”. You always knew the girls from all the teams and I’m sure they will always remember you as one of the friendliest coaches ever.
I will always remember afterward, going back and forth over the game again over a beer. Some of our happiest times. I’ll miss you, brother.
