Christopher N. Karamanos, 88

July 30, 2016

Christopher N. Karamanos, 88, of Lancaster, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Mytilene, Greece, and was the husband of Themis (Yelagotes) Karamanos of Lancaster, and the son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Gounari) Karamanos.
Christopher was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Lancaster, and was involved with AHEPA .
After training at the Greek Police Academy, Christopher rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He came to the United States with his wife and newborn son in 1962. He worked for several companies during his career and was also a long-time real estate investor.
Christopher was a good friend to all, always ready to listen and offer advice. He was a man with a great sense of humor who adored his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Christopher is survived by his children: Nicholas C. Karamanos and his wife Cassandra; and Despina K. Proithis and her husband Allen, all of Lancaster; four grandchildren: Theanna, Alexander, Maria, and Amalia; and a sister, Rodokleia Mariola of Greece. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Demetri.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, August 5, 2016, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603 with the Rev. Dr. Alexander Goussetis and Revs. Alexander Veronis and Hector Firoglanis officiating. Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the church, with the Trisagion Service beginning at 7 PM, and again one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Conestoga Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in Christopher’s memory may be made to the Philoptochos Society at the church at the address above.

Even though I did not have the opportunity to spend much time with Mr Karamanos, when I did, he was always such a joyful, kind and encouraging man. The love that his entire family exhibits is a beautiful testament to his loving character he shared with them all. May he rest in peace with Jesus.
