Charles William Scott Jr, “Chuck”, 95

May 02, 2025

Charles William Scott Jr, “Chuck”, went to be with the Lord on May 2nd, 2025, at 1:15AM. He was born July 3,1929, in Tarentum, PA to Charles W. Scott Sr. and Genevieve (Ferney) Scott. He married his high school sweetheart, Martha G. Snowden on February 2, 1951.

Chuck received a Bachelor of Science degree from Grove City College in 1951. He earned his Master of Science degree from Drexel University in 1963.

They lived in Middle River, MD, where Chuck worked as an electrical engineer in the space program for Martin Marietta. When his job at Martin Marietta transferred to Georgia, Chuck decided he wanted to stay in Maryland, where his family enjoyed going to Orems Methodist Church, living on the Chesapeake Bay, fishing, water skiing and boating. He took a job with Bell Laboratories in the Connector Division in Baltimore, MD.

In 1973, Chuck and Martha moved to Cedar Knolls, NJ when his job at Bell Laboratories relocated to Whippany, NJ. At Bell Labs he received several patents. In New Jersey, Chuck and Martha were active members of Long Hill Chapel.

Chuck retired from Bell Labs in 1986 and bought a farm in South Montrose, PA where they helped start a church called Montrose Bible Church and later became members of Bridgewater Church. Chuck and Martha enjoyed the rural social life, the “Farm” and back-to-nature living until 2019 when Martha passed away. In June of 2023, Chuck moved to Landis Homes in Lititz, PA. While in Lancaster, he attended Calvary Church until his passing.

Chuck always put his faith first and then his family. Chuck and Martha enjoyed missions work and travelled to Papua New Guinea three times including one six months stay where Chuck helped upgrade and maintain a phone system for SIL (Wycliffe Bible Translators.) Chuck also helped to build several radio transmitters in Belize and was on the board of WPEL Montrose Broadcasting Corp.

Chuck and Martha had three sons, Charles W Scott III (deceased), Dean S. Scott (Kutztown, PA), married to Bonnie and Timothy A. Scott (Leola, PA) married to Kim. He had seven grandchildren (Jessica (Steve Manley), Nadean (Eddie Cuff), Darrin, Hope, Kelsey (Carl Christmas), Kayla (Tyler Nachtigal), and Kacie (Welton Bonner). He was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren – Eddie and Bryce (Cuff) – Liam and Kali (Christmas) – Abram, Jordan, Kyrie, Téa (Nachtigal) – Elijah, Torah, Moses, and Eden (Bonner).
