Charles E. Lusk

Charles Edward Lusk left this earth December 14, 2008. He had the privilege of passing away at home with family. He was born August 4, 1938 in Columbia, PA. He was the only son of the late Garland and Dorothy Lusk. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1956 and enjoyed playing on various sport teams. After high school he served his country by joining the Air Force for 4 years. He proudly graduated from York Junior College with an Associates degree and then graduated from Elizabethtown College with a BS degree in 1969. Throughout his work career, he worked for RCA, Warner-Lambert, Yellow Freight and Kellogg’s. He also had several entrepreneurial pursuits and businesses. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Lititz, the International Grain Miller’s Union, National Rifle Association, and Lancaster Treasure Hunter’s Club. He loved raising pigeons and had a passion for Volkswagens and the Bull Terrier Rescue Club. He enjoyed nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He appreciated history and was a great adventurer: from archeology to scuba diving for treasures to wilderness hunting expeditions and searching for silver in Mexico. He will be remembered for his love and dedication to his children’s successes, determination, perseverance and his ability to dream big.

Charles was married 45 years to Nancy Spangler, his loving wife who took care of him through his illness to the end. He is survived by his lovely wife Nancy Marie, his daughter, Anne M. Lusk of Lititz, wife of Kenneth G. Berkenstock and grandsons, Kenneth D. Berkenstock and Matthew R. Berkenstock, his daughter, Susan of Lititz, wife of Craig Stafford and grandsons Alexander Stafford and Shaun Stafford, his son, David C. Lusk of Lititz, husband of Margaret Lusk and grandson Jarod Lusk and granddaughter Carissa Lusk, and his son Thomas E. Lusk of Etters, husband of Mary Ellen Lusk and grandson Joshua and granddaughter Jedda.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Lititz, PA. For more information, call his daughter Anne at 717-239-5555. Knowing Charlie and being his friend was an honor and privilege for me throughout many years of my life. We shared good times at RCA. Our hunting trips were memorable and fruitful experiences. Charlie was an inspiration to all that knew him. I will miss you Charlie and hope to see you again one day in heaven.

Dear Nancy and all of the beloved family of Charles,
I send you all my deepest condolences.
I met Charles online years ago because of LUSK genealogy.  What a fun loving guy he was!  I am grateful he touched my life. He was a great encourager to me.
I will be praying for all of you to have peace and comfort.  He loved you so and was so very proud of your many accomplishments.
  Blessings to each of you.

Dear Nancy and family…..I’m so sorry for your loss.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this most difficult of times.  Please know we are thinking of you and we care.  May God bless you all and give you the strength to get thru these tough times.  Much love to you all,
Carol, Dave and Courtney Brown

Dear Nancy and family,  Sorry to hear of the death of your husband and father. I was quite surprised when I opened the newspaper yesterday. Please accept our sympathy. Nancy, you gave so much in caring for him and making all his favorite meals and requests, etc. May each of you experience Gods peace and presence during this time of grief. We would like to attend the memorial service, but have a grandchild’s Christmas program about the same time. We will see what we can work out. Either way , know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Fred and Julie Heller

Dear Lusk Family,
May you feel God’s peace that passes all understanding, now and in the days and weeks ahead.  God’s love for you, and your love for each other will carry you through each day.  May all the wonderful memories turn your tears into joy.  With sympathy, Sam and Patti (Wonder) Smith

Nancy and family you have my prayers as you go through your grieving for Charles.  Although we only met in person twice, we visited many times by email.  My brother Charles and I really enjoyed meeting you and enjoyed our visit to your home.  I will miss his emails.  He will be missed by all!!
