Sorry to learn of Charlie’s passing.  I worked with him at CAM Industries back in the 70’s.  I always enjoyed stories he told of his travels.

I know what a hard time this is for your entire family.  Chuck was a wonderful man who also made a terrific neighbor for the past 11 years, along with his wife Bea.  I always looked forward to the nice weather so that I would see more of them both.  Chuck was so knowledgeable about every tool and piece of equipment and loved helping me figure out how to work or repair anything.  No matter how silly my question was, I knew he would greet me with a big smile and give me a solution.  We would all get together on snowy days to clear out the mess the snow plow left at the end of the cul-de-sac where we live.  It truly is a one-of-a-kind neighborhood because of people like Chuck & Bea.  One problem that nearly stumped us both was getting rid of the bird nests in our shutters.  I was amazed at how he cut pieces of metal and screwed them in behind the shutters on the second floor to keep the birds out.  In the nice weather, I could always smell dinner coming from Chuck’s “mini-kitchen” in the garage!  You couldn’t possibly ask for better neighbors!  Chuck knew that Bea wanted a dog, but said she could borrow mine.  Eventually, their daughter, Sheila, bought a dog who was often with them and kept them both company.  I can’t imagine how I got so lucky to get Chuck and Bea as neighbors!  I will miss him so very, very much!  I know that all of you have so many wonderful memories to keep him with you always.  Please know that I am only a knock away, Bea.  (P.S.  Hopefully, he will help Seth in heaven!)  Love, Anitra Hampton
