Carrie D. Burns, 23

Carrie D. Burns, 23, of 4082 Jasmine Place, Mount Joy, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 21st in West Hempfield Twp.

Born in Lancaster, Carrie was the daughter of Carla D. Burns Wallick and Milton Wallick of Mount Joy, and the late James A. Christian.

She had been working in telemarketing for Weed Man Lawn Care Co. of Lampeter for the past month, where she enthusiastically enjoyed her job. She had also previously worked for Maxima Technologies on Rohrerstown Rd.

Carrie was a member of Grace Community Church of Willow Street.

She was a loving mother and great friend, having a good heart full of happiness, which she tried to spread to those around her. Her family was of great importance to her, and she treasured the times she spent with family and her close friends. She lived her life believing that all things happened for a reason, using determination and diligent work to make a better life for both her son and herself. Carrie enjoyed writing poetry, possessing a talent for the composition of her thoughts into words.

In addition to her mother and stepfather, Carrie is survived by her son, Jordan C. Leas of Mount Joy; her maternal grandmother, Doris Walshaw of York; her adoptive paternal grandparents, Milton A and Betty J. Wallick of Lititz, and by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends will be received on Friday from 6-7PM at Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Rd., Willow Street, PA, with the memorial service to follow at 7PM, the Rev Wilmer Martin officiating. Carrie’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her memory to the trust fund established for her son, Jordan Leas, in care of Susquehanna Bank, Box 7132, Lancaster, PA 17604. Arrangements by the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, Lancaster, PA 393-9661.

I have only known Carrie for a short time, but in that time I have watched her grow as a person, a mother and a spiritual being. I agree with Carrie that everything happens for a reason, but this is one of God’s plans that is beyond comprehension for those left behind. Hopefully one day we will all have a better understanding.

My sincere condolences to her family — all of you are in my prayers, especially little Jordan.
