Carole A. Munroe, 72

Carole A. Munroe, 72, of Larchmont, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family Friday, February 8, 2013, at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA, following complications from chemotherapy. She only recently resided at the Mennonite Home in Lancaster to be closer to her niece Barbara, wife of John Kurtz while recuperating from a fall last October.

Born in New Rochelle, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie Leahon Munroe. Carole graduated from St. Bonaventure University in NY with a bachelor’s degree in English. She was a social worker and case supervisor for the City of New York, Department of Social Services, for over 30 years.

Carole’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and she considered Lancaster a home away from home. She loved cats and was supportive of the ASPCA in Westchester County, NY. She volunteered with the senior center and helped with elections. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing the New York Times crossword puzzle, going to the beach and was quite the NY sports fan. Carole was of the Catholic Faith and she attended Highland Presbyterian Church when visiting with her niece Barbara.

Her surviving family includes a brother John C. “Skip” Munroe, husband of Alyce of Hollywood, FL, sisters-in-law Kathy Munroe of Mahopac, NY, and Sandra Munroe of Brewster, NY, and many loving nieces and nephews. Carole was preceded in death by her sister Jeanne Metzger and her brothers George and Robert Munroe.

The Funeral will take place 11 AM Monday, February 18, 2013, at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, with The Rev. Ted Mingle officiating. Followed by a luncheon at La Piazza Restaurant, 800 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Viewing will be held 3-7 PM on Sunday at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E.
