Carlos David “Davie” Santiago, 47

Carlos David Santiago “Davie”, 47, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 14, 2020. Born in Lancaster, Davie was the son of the late Carmelo Santiago and Ana T. Cruz.

A very sociable person, Davie always went out of his way to be kind and lend a helping hand to everyone he could. A self-taught handyman who found great fulfillment in helping others. Davie will always be remembered for his contagious laugh. He brought a smile to the face of everyone with whom he came into contact. Davie loved to “jam” to freestyle music. Davie also enjoyed baking desserts. His specialty was the pineapple upside down cake, that was phenomenal! Davie also loved to spend time at the beach, fishing, and watching the Miami Dolphins, but most of all spending his days with his family and friends.

Davie is survived by his loving significant other, Shigufta Morales (Virmani). His daughters Diana Santiago and grandson D’Angelo, of Pembroke Pines, FL and Angela Santiago, of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. Davie will be missed by all who knew him, but especially by his family who loved him immensely, including his siblings: Luz Diaz, of Miramar, FL; Juan Santiago, of Lancaster; Norma Rodriguez and husband Adrian, of Lancaster; Jose “Tony” Santiago, of Lancaster; and Ana Vazquez and husband Francisco, of Lancaster.

There will be a viewing held on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 3PM-6PM at Charles F. Snyder, 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602. COVID-19 protocol will be observed, limiting the number of guests to 25 at a time in the building. Face coverings will be required.

Condolences to the Family

I only knew Carlos for a day. I worked with him the Thursday prior to his passing. He was incredibly generous. He offered me half of his hoagie. He offered me all the candy I could eat. He told me to help myself to his ice cold water. Just an absolute pleasure to be around. He worked very hard with me and I looked forward to working with him again in the future. My condolences to his family who are grieving through this time. Carlos was a great guy. God bless you all.

Davie and I had many great times hanging out,  i remembered when my car needed a new radiator he helped me install the new one,  and he would help anytime you needed it,.  I remember Keishla was saying how much she loved upside down pineapple cake and he showed up randomly just to bring her one which i can say it was delicious.   I will miss him alot and will always remember him

I remember taking Davie to Chipotle and Five Guys for the first tine to eat. He was my handyman who helped me paint, mow, and power wash my house to get it ready to be sold.  He took pride in his work, wanting to hear how good of a job he did. He kept working until you were satisfied with his work.  I sold him my father in laws truck and he shined it up and made it look new.  I bought his bike from him (which I still have).  He took my parents out to buy then a washer and dryer when theirs broke down.  Of course, he found them a good deal on Offer Up. Everyone knew that you can’t tell him that you were looking for something because he would find it for you. He loved my wife’s cooking and he bragged about his banana vanilla wafers dessert and upside down pineapple cake.  Thank you Davie for all of the memories and for always being willing to help others. Johnny, Lucy, Norma, Tony, and Anny my family mourns with you and we know that you are going through a very difficult time. There is nothing we can say or do to take away your pain or loss. Hopefully we can extend the love we have for Davie and pass it on to you and that love will sustain you through this hard time. Let us love one another this is the best thing to do as a family.
