Burnell C. Brubaker, 75
Burnell C. “BC” Brubaker, 75, died Wednesday morning, March 1, 2006, at Landis Homes in Lititz.
He was the husband of the late Geertje C. “Linda” Visser Brubaker, who died in 2001. Born in Lancaster, Burnell was the son of the late Andrew L. and Vernetta Burkholder Brubaker.
He had been self-employed as a farmer in Columbia and had also owned and operated the former Prospect Valley Campground near Columbia from 1968 until 2004.
Burnell had attended the Congregational Bible Church in Marietta.
He served as a corporal in the US Army during the Korean War, being stationed in Germany with a field artillery battalion.
Burnell was a lifetime member of the Mountville VFW Post 8757, was involved in politics during the George Wallace campaign, and he enjoyed carpentry and flying. He also sold antiques and collectibles in his flea barn at his campground for many years.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Peggy A. married to John S. Broome of Washington Boro, and Patricia A. married to Douglas L. Webb of Lancaster; 2 grandsons: Sean and Tristan Broome; and by 3 sisters: Miriam Groff of Lancaster, Ethel married to Robert Landis of Edina, MN, and Shirley married to Frank Nolt of Elverson, PA. He was preceded in death by 7 siblings.
Friends will be received on Monday from 1-2PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the funeral services to follow at 2PM. Interment in the East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Mountville VFW Post 8757, 48 E. Main St., Mountville, PA 17554 or to Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543.
