Betsy Ann Youndt, 77

July 02, 2024

Betsy Ann Youndt, 77, of Brownstown, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital with family by her side, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Brenner) Rose. Betsy was the loving wife of Charles Robert “Bob” Youndt with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage.

A 1965 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, she was a co-owner of Rose Brothers Plumbing for more than 38 years, working until 2 weeks before her passing.

A wife, mother, and grandmother, Betsy loved her family and was a fierce protector of them, always wanting to keep them safe. Betsy loved going to the beach, especially Bethany Beach to the family’s shore home. There, she enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. Betsy was part of the rifle team in high school and earned many trophies for her marksmanship. A great friend, people gravitated to her for her fun sense of humor and desire to have a fun time.

In addition to her husband, Bob, she is survived by her children: Brook Necker, wife of Alex, of Bel Air, MD; Brody Youndt, husband of Kristen, of West Chester; and Blake Youndt, of Lancaster. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Xander and Adeline Necker; and Brandon and Macy Youndt. She was preceded in death by her stillborn son, Brett.

Family and friends will be received from 1PM to 2PM, Friday, July 12, 2024, at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Memorial Services will follow at 2PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betsy’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

My sincere condolences on the passing of Betsy! I work at Fairmount and I am a neighbor. I would often talk with her when she was visiting at Fairmount. She was a sweet, wonderful lady and had a heart of gold! She would ask about my husband and his illness with dementia. May God comfort you and sustain you through this difficult time! I have been thinking and praying for you! 🙏🏻❤️
Sincerely,
Carol McClenaghan

Bob, my heart breaks for the suffering you are going through. You know how much I cared for both of you. I will sadly miss talking over the fence with Betsy. I want to let you know that if there is ANYTHING my family can do to help you through this terrible time, you know where we are there at the end of the canal.

To the family of my friend Betsy. I really don’t know what to say to you as you have never known me. In my younger years back on Poplar St I had a teenage crush on Betsy and her cousin at the same time. I reconnected years ago as a friend. I graduated with Betsy. I will remember her always. My prayers are with you all.

Brook, Brody, Blake, and Bob, I can’t tell you how sorry I am that you have lost such a wonderful mom and wife. She treasured you all, including those amazing grandkids! We spent so many great years together working on all things CV! We had so many laughs together about all of the funny things in life and I felt so lucky to have  known her and to have taught all three of you, her beloved children. Her legacy of great parenting and community service is something everyone should aspire to! Rest in peace, Bets, and know that you will be missed by so many. Peggy Lintner

I served on the Conestoga Valley Education Foundation with Betsy, but I already knew her from her PTO days, because she shared some tips on playground planning with me as the Leola PTO was planning our playground and she had already completed the Brownstown playground.  THANK YOU, family, for sharing her with us for all those years.  She was a joy to know!  I especially liked when we could steal a few moments to chat and catch up with what was going on with our families.  She was a great lady of Conestoga Valley!!  I hope your happy memories of her antics comfort you and make you smile.Robin (formerly Catalano) Ardinger

Bob, Brook, Brody & Blake – So deeply sorry and shocked  about Betsy’s passing.  She was a dear friend many years ago when our kids were little.  We had tons of laughs and wonderful times together going as far back as being in your wedding.  She was so vibrant – just like her red hair!  Truly an amazing mother and I’m sure an amazing grandmother who will be terribly missed as I’m sure she has touched your lives in countless ways.

Bob, Brook, Brody and Blake:
Like many I’m sure, I am both shocked and saddened to read about Betsy’s passing. Although living in Virginia now, I still keep up with “home” by reading the Lancaster news online most days. I can remember like it was yesterday all of you walking over from Main Street to check on the progress of your new home across the street from us in Westgate. Betsy was certainly everything mentioned in her obituary; an absolute stand out mother, friend, neighbor and representative of Rose Brothers. I’ve thought of you all quite often over the years and will continue to do so in these moments of sorrow. She has left a wonderful legacy in her three children and grandchildren and I know you all will keep her unforgettable spirit alive and well in the many memories and stories she has blessed you with. My sincerest condolences, Kathy Geist (Cenekofsky)

On behalf of the Conestoga Valley community, I would like to acknowledge the passing of Betsy Youndt with sincere sympathies to her family. I first met Betsy in our district when she was a very active volunteer at Brownstown Elementary School. She followed her kids to the next levels as a committed volunteer, and continued to serve the district for multiple terms as a CV school board director and then later as a board member for the CV Education Foundation. Betsy was the consummate community servant, who was always focused on the needs of our students. As CV Superintendent and Executive Director of CVEF, I had the privilege of working with Betsy for many years. She was always supportive, loyal, and positive. I will miss her, but I will always appreciate her dedicated service and support. Thank you, Betsy! Gerry Huesken

I always had a crush on Betsy all through our school days at Reynolds and McCaskey. She was always one of the most pleasant girls I grew up knowing as schoolmates. I was fortunate to reconnect with Betsy by way of Facebook which was great but no so sad. Please accept my condolences on her passing. I will miss hearing about her family adventures and her love of pets on Facebook. I’ll see you on the other side Betsy along with other schoolmates that have gone before us! Bill Bloom

So sad to hear about this beautiful, in so many ways, friend going to heaven. I will miss knowing I can’t just call her  and reminisce about some of our wonderful and crazy outings.  May you rest in peace, and  please behave up there. Love you to pieces. I would love to extend my sympathy to her entire family, and wish them the best. Hugs!! John Stephens

Besty was one of the most loved people I ever met. She had a full life was her husband, children, grandchildren and her many friends. I love how she named all of her dogs after places she lived and loved – Bethany, the fashion dog, Della and Penny. I attended so many family parties with Betsy and she was always bright and sunny and good for a long chat. She had a big personality and a great sense of humor. I always admired how she continued her volunteer activities with the school board long after her children graduated. To all of Betsy’s family and friends, please accept my deepest condolences.
