Bessie M. “Betty” Burke, 91
Bessie “Betty” M. (Shiflet) Burke, 91, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Calvary Homes. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Elsie (Hershock) Shiflet. Betty was the wife of the late Fredrick B. Burke who died in October 1978.
Betty was employed by RCA for 32 years on the production line of TV tubes. She was a member of Silver Spring Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by a son, Kevin P. Burke, and his family of Bainbridge, a daughter; Eileen D. Stauffer, and her family of Seaford, DE, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters; Marie Shrum of Mt. Joy, and Pearl Shiflet of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by 2 sons; Harry and Daniel Sleeger, and 1 grandchild, Nicole.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at Silver Spring Baptist Church 4001 Marietta Ave. Columbia, PA 17512 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. John Fleming Officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend to Graveside Service which will be held before the Memorial Service at Riverview Burial Park at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Silver Spring Baptist Church 4001 Marietta Ave. Columbia, PA 17512.Arrangements by Charles F.
