Barry Lee Witmer, 74

February 16, 2023

Barry Lee Witmer, 74, son of Mary and Norman Witmer, both deceased, was born on September 6, 1948, and passed peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in Lancaster, PA. He served in the US Army and retired from Thomson Reuters as a graphic artist.

Barry is survived by his brother, John, John’s wife, Miriam Gomez Witmer; and niece, Marissa Witmer; niece Tammi Witmer Miller and her husband Shawn Miller; and great-niece, Healey Miller. He is also survived by his brother Gene Witmer and his family in South Carolina. He was considered to be the “coolest uncle” who loved live music, especially his favorite band, Trilogy, and he recently saw Lady Gaga; Earth, Wind and Fire; and Santana live in concert. He loved super spicy food and traveling. Recently he traveled to the Bahamas and Punta Cana. Barry lived in Wilmington, Delaware, and was best known for his talent at nurturing exquisite Bonsai trees and his amazing 1939 World’s Fair collection. At his request, a private family gathering will be held at a future date when his ashes will be sprinkled on a tropical island.
