Barbara Krause, 87

Barbara Krause, 87, formerly of Lancaster, died Saturday, March, 10, 2012 at United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz. Born in Ternopil, Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Onofry and Ksenia Turczyn Leszczyszyn.

A homemaker, she was married to the late Lawrence M. Krause for 42 years before his death in 2008. Barbara was a great cook, who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Helen, wife of Raymond Danyo, and their daughters Christine and Claire, of Lancaster; daughter-in-law Caroline McGee, and her son Bohdan Matkowsky, of New York, NY; and her sisters Kataryna and Anna of Ukraine. She was preceded in death by her son Walter Matkowsky and her siblings Teodozia, Malania, Michael and Gregory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Road, Lancaster, PA, with The Rev. Paul J. Theiz as Celebrant. Viewings will take place 12-3 PM Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA and 10-11 AM on Tuesday at the Church. The Rosary will be prayed 2 PM Monday at the funeral home. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Dear Family….I am very sorry to hear of Barbara’s passing.I visited her many times over the past several months and we always had a good visit talking about Lawrence Welk,Ukranian food,etc.I am very grateful to have known her and she will be missed.Please accept my deepest sympathy.
