Aurora Lopez-Torres, 85

Aurora Lopez-Torres, 85, of Lancaster, PA, went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care. She was born in Orocovis, PR to the late Raymond Torres and Juana Arroyo.

She was the devoted wife of Victor Lopez-Rivera for 65 years. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, whom she had met when they were ages nine and ten.

She was an active member of San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, where she and her husband served as devoted members of the church. For many years, they helped bring troubled youth to the church as well as teaching in children’s CCD classes.

Aurora was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She instilled her beliefs in her family, as well as people that she met throughout her life. She was a very accomplished seamstress, cook and caretaker. She was loved by everyone she came across. She will be greatly missed and remembered in the hearts of her family and all those she has touched throughout Lancaster.

She is survived by four sons, Teodoro, Louis, husband of Ada, Jose R., husband of Lisa, Angel M., husband of Christine, five daughters, Maria M., Iris Bonilla, wife of George, Aida Rivera, wife of Ramon, Maria S., Geralda Lopez, wife of Humberto, fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Angel L. Lopez and Victor M. Lopez as well as two grandsons, Mario Lemus, Jr and George D. Bonilla.

A viewing in Celebration of Aurora’s Life for friends and family will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA on Sunday, June 23 (6-9pm) with The Holy Rosary and a Vigil beginning at 8:30PM. A second viewing will be held Monday, June 24 (9-10AM) at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church 425 S. Duke St. Lancaster, PA 17602 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM with The Rev. Allan Wolfe as Celebrant. Interment will be held at the Conestoga Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to San Juan Bautista Catholic Church.
