Arthur J. Quinn, 84
Arthur J. Quinn, 84, of Lancaster, died January 10, 2007 at Brethren Village.
He was born April 18, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York.
Arthur was the loving husband of Dorothy (Downs) Quinn; they had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 9, 2006. He was the son of Arthur Francis Quinn and Margaret Mary (Leninger) Quinn.
The greatest joy in Art’s life was his family and he will be greatly missed by his children: Dorothy E., wife of Robert A. Horst, Lancaster, Barbara M., of Manheim, Margaret M., wife of Dennis H. Anspach, Lancaster, Patricia M., wife of Ted J. Heckman, Lancaster, Arthur F., husband of Carol S., Mt. Joy, Richard C. Quinn, of Lancaster; his 24 grandchildren and spouses; and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Quinn) Krakowski and his brother, William Quinn.
Art served in the U.S. Army Air Force 1942-1945 in the European Theater with the 93rd Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force. Art worked for the Delaware Lackawanna and Western Railroad starting in 1941 and returning after the war till 1961 as a sales representative in Syracuse, NY. In 1961, he moved his family to Lancaster, PA and worked with Norwalk and then Yellow Freight Trucklines as a sales Representative until 1983.
He was past president of the Lancaster Traffic Club and Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity. He served on the Board of Directors of the Red Rose Transit Authority for 17 years (1976- 1993). Art attended High School at St. Mary’s in Rutherford, NJ and college at the University of Nebraska and Syracuse University.
Art’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 16th at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, where Art was a member since 1979 when the church was first built. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 10AM till noon with mass starting at noon. Interment will be Wed., Jan. 17, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Donations may be made in Art’s name to Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606 to the Good Samaritan Fund. ATTN: Development Office.
