Antonis “Tony” Vasilios Sakellaris, 67

Antonis “Tony” Vasilios Sakellaris, 67, of Lancaster, PA passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was the husband of Mary (Erdman) Sakellaris to whom he was happily married for 41 years.
Born in Kos Island, Dodecanese, Greece he was the son of the late Vasilios and Sevasti (Palapani) Sakellaris. Tony was the former owner/operator of Famous Pizza on W. Lemon St. in Lancaster from 1979 until 1997. He was most recently employed by Costco since 1998. Prior, Tony served as a bowman supervisor for the Greek cargo shipping company, Lemos, where he traveled the world many times over. He also served in the Port Patrol of the Greek Navy on Leros Island, Greece.
He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and the Pan Coan Society. He enjoyed cooking, history, learning, teaching, Greek dancing, Hellenic culture and heritage, traveling back to Kos, spending time with his family and his dog Niki. He was an avid sports fan and an active supporter of his son’s sports interests. His favorite soccer team was PAO in Greece.
Tony lived his life principled, with strong character, work ethic, values and optimism. He personified “philotimo” in his daily life. His story was one of humble beginnings with a strong sense of community that gave him the ambitions and goals to create and provide. He was known to make the best of any situation, regardless of circumstance and treat everyone in his life with respect.
In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his two sons Will Anthony Sakellaris husband of Meagan of New York, NY and Andreas Anthony Sakellaris husband of Brooke of Lancaster, PA; one granddaughter on the way in September; six brothers Stamatis Sakellaris husband of Anda of Athens, Greece, Giorgos Sakellaris husband of Helma of Holland, Nikitas Sakellaris of Kos Island, Greece, Emmanuel Sakellaris husband of Margit of Garsten, Austria, Dimitris Sakellaris husband of Tracey and Andreas Sakellaris both of Kos Island, Greece; nine nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:30AM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave. Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Alex Goussettis officiating. Interment will be held in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM at the Church with the Trisagion held at 7PM and on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service at the Church.

Dear Mary and family, Judy and I were very sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. Tony would always greet us with his wide smile, he was a good man and a good friend.
