Antoinette T. “Dolly” Gaul, 97

August 30, 2015

Antoinette T. “Dolly” Gaul, 97, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Brethren Village. Born in West Chester, PA she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Michelina (Selliti) Caccamo. She was the wife of the late Harry H. Gaul who passed away in 1985.
She was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School.
Dolly owned and operated her own beauty shop for over 22 years in Lancaster and later served as the beautician at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Homes & Crematory for over 20 years.
Dolly was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she served on the bereavement committee, was a member of the Senior Citizens club, the Altar Rosary Society and helped with bazaars and Lenten dinners. Dolly was also a member of the American Legion Post #34 and the Sons of Italy Lodge in Philadelphia. She was a fantastic cook and hostess. You never left her house hungry! She was the prettiest girl on the dance floor and her husband’s Miss America. She taught her family the true meaning of unconditional love and to us she was the best Mom, Mother-in-law, Nanny and Grand Nanny the Great.
She is survived by her son, Harry H. Gaul, Jr., husband of Judene of East Petersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Amanda Worboys wife of Tom of Natick, MA and Angela Gaul wife of Joel Jackel of New City, NY, and one great grandson, Ryan Jackel who was the love of her life for the past seven months, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Angelina Cilea, Josephine Severino, Phyllis Cleary, Helen Artigiani and one brother, Sam Caccamo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11AM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St, Lancaster, PA. A Viewing will be held from 6-8PM with a Prayer Service at 8PM on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, and a second viewing from 9:30-10:30AM at the funeral home on Friday morning. Interment in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Bereavement Committee at the above address or to the Dominican Monastery, 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.

Dear Harry, Judy and family, Dolly was truly the best of the best and we all loved her very much. She was a great friend to my mom, Jenny, and to all of us. Many wonderful memories of her kindnesses and generosity remain with me always. All the  things she did to make our life happier and better will never be forgotten. She will always be in my heart and you will all be in my thoughts these days ahead. Much love, Gray Sabatini Shirk

Hello, Harry.
Sorry to hear about your Mom. Shounds like was a woman who lived life to the fullest. Remember all the good times and how much she cared for you. I lost both of my parents recently, so I know how hard this  is. Take care of yourself and pray for her and yourself. I will keep both of you in my prayers. Darlene Berchin
